About Me

My photo
My name's Alison but for reasons too long to go into I'm known as Cockney Blonde or CB for short. I've been rubber stamping for several years but now spend most of my time either knitting or crocheting. However, with the advent of a New Year I have bitten the bullet and am tackling my usually hated pastime of sewing. I've even bought 'Sewing for Dummies' to guide me on my way. I've been with my hubby Dave for 24 years and between us we have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. We also have 2 cats and a dog, the latter features as my 'photo' image. I used to be able to blog daily but these days I struggle to blog weekly. Hopefully now we are settled into our new home in the country, I can get back to a daily (well almost) update from the room I now have to share with hubby. No more personal crafting space for me!!! Thanks to all the blogs and sites I follow for all your brilliant inspiration, and thank you to everyone who finds the time to comment on my blog.

Calorie Free Cupcakes

Good Afternoon bloggers and how are we all today. I've had a work free day today so apart from some tidying up I've been having a bit of a play, oh and a long chat on the phone with my friend.

I've used the Papermania cupcakes stamp for this card and paper pieced the two front cakes with papers from Prima 'Fairy Flora', the backing paper is also from this stack.

I've coloured the cakes with copics: E51, 53, BG10, 13, 15, R20, 22, Y21, 26, YR12, 15 and added some crystal stickles.

Ribbons, lace, pearls and brads are all from my stash.
I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:-

Maisie Belle is Off to School

Evening Bloggers. Hasn't it been chilly today and a little wet and miserable. So much for August Bank Holiday. Still, our day was brightened up by a little visit to a little person, our grand-daughter Casey. She also accompanied us to visit her Great Nana and wanted up on the bed so that she could give her a kiss and cuddle, ah bless!

Anyways, todays card is made using the latest digi image by those talented people over at Designed 2 Delight who run a brilliant progressive challenge. Hop over to the blog via the link below to see what I'm talking about. I've coloured Maisie Belle with copics including BG72, 01, 05 to fit in with the current Copic Creations challenge.

The DP is 'Madeleine' by Prima and I've used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch to create the border and also cut 3 separately to embellish the image. There's a closer view below.
I hope you like it and here come the challenge links, x

Holly but no Ivy

Evening Everyone. So much for the Bank Holiday sunshine, we didn't get much of it. Oh well, never mind, it gave me a good excuse to stay indoors and craft.

This card started off as something quite different but somehow evolved into what you see now. I really like it and may even make a few for Christmas as it was fairly quick to do and will only require an ordinary stamp.

Both the sentiment and image are by Hero Arts. A couple of stamps I've had in my stash for years. I've used copics in YG63 and R27 and stamped the image 4 times off the page.

I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:-

A Partridge in a Pear Tree

Evening Peeps, hope you're all enjoying your weekend and looking forward to the extra day on Monday (if it applies). We went for a lovely walk this afternoon in some local woods with our dogs. Really enjoyed it and its a long time since all 3 of us were together to do that.

When I saw the challenge by Winter Wonderland to trim a tree I knew I had the ideal Elizabeth Bell image which I had coloured with copics last week in our caravan. I used the following:-
E00, 21, 93 - skin
E31, 33, 35, 37 - hair
G07, YG00, 03, Y21, 26, 28, B02, 05, R02, 22, 24, 27

The DP is by Basic Grey 'Jovial'.

I've rotated the Christmas Challenge sketch to fit the image and added brads and gems from my stash.

Hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges:-

A Card and Gift in One

Good Evening Bloggers. I don't know about you but its been a miserable day here in West Yorkshire. It's been raining cats and dogs and I've even popped the heating on this evening, brrr!
I made this card a couple of weeks ago but couldn't share it before as it was for my Step-Daughter's birthday and she occasionally glances at my blog. The lovely stamp in the centre is by La Blanche. I'd never heard of them before I got this one and also another which I'll share another time. I wasn't sure as they were white stamps on rubber but the image is beautiful and looked lovely coloured with copics.
As you can see I've made another of these effective gatefold cards which enables you to encompass a bookmark slotted onto the front right panel (see below). The DP are Websters available at Crafty Emma's Store. Some of the flowers are also from there.
I hope you like it and I'd like to enter it into the current Cupcake Crafts Challenge which is a Gift and Card in one, x

Hey Dude!

Good Morning All. Have to make this a really quick one as I'm about to drop Son #2 off for a trip. I've used Blonde Moments DP here and to create a frame (as per the current Allsorts Challenge) I adhered the bauble sheet to some card and then cut out the aperture. This was to give it some strength for when I added the 3d pads to the back. Hopefully the bottom picture will give you an idea although the piccie's not brill.

The cute image is by Mollie Blooms which I've coloured with copics. I cut off the lantern and re-fixed it to the edge of the frame. I also cut off the hanging mitten, restuck and drew in the thread.

The CES challenge this week is for banners, bunting or flags. I'm not sure if my interpretation will count but I'll enter it anyway. I've cut some baubles from the DP, added a couple of gold bells and a grunge board bauble coloured with dabbers and voila!

Hope you like it, x

A Single Flower

Here we go folks, another quickie made from offcuts. I really like the colours in this one. Unfortunately I had wanted to enter it into the current Crafty Sentiments challenge but missed the deadline :(((
Anyhow, for the first time I'm going to enter it into a Pollycraft Monday Challenge which is asking for Autumn Colours.

The image is by Hero Arts which didn't take much colouring with my copics, and I've stamped the flowerhead randomly on the cardstock in Versamagic Red Brick.

Hope you like it and here comes the challenge link, x

Scrap that project

Evening Bloggers. Before I get onto the card what do ya think of my new blog layout/colours??? I fancied a change and was a little bored this afternoon so had a play with my settings. Let me know what ya think.

Anyway, back to the card 'Scrap that Project', well not literally, but that was how I made the background with offcuts of DP stuck to double sided paper which was then adhered to a pink glittery background. One night last week I had a does of insomnia and wandered down to my craft room not awake enough to create a masterpiece but not tired enough to sleep. I made a few of these backgrounds in different colours, there's another coming up in a minute.

Anyway, I coloured Tilda with copics E00, 21, 93 (skin); E31, 33, 35 (hair); V17 (bauble); RV02, 04, 06 (dress); B93 (tights). I've then sat her on a strip of newly bought Fizzy Moon ribbon, added some snowflakes stamped in Brilliance pearlescent orchid, and the sentiment, and embellished it with snowflakes.

I'd like to enter this into the current Bah Humbug challenge which is 'Something New'.http://bah-humbug-christmas.blogspot.com/2011/08/challenge-33-something-new.html This could be the ribbon or the background I've created as that was a new technique I tried. Have to say I got the inspiration from Helen's blog. Also Totally Papercrafts 'Christmas in August'. http://totallypapercrafts.blogspot.com/2011/08/challenge-80-christmas-in-august.html

Hope you like it, x

Blooming Marvellous

Good Morning Bloggers. Sorry I've been MIA for longer than expected but stuff got in the way. Anyway, had a fab weekend in our caravan, really relaxing which was partly because I knew we weren't far from Mum should we be needed. Managed to take in the last Harry Potter movie and also a wander around Bury's famous market.

My card this morning is made using the current Designed 2 Delight freebie image. Easy peasy to colour with copics. I can see me using this image a lot for quickie cards. I've teamed it with DP by  Basic Grey 'Hello Luscious'. I've also added small buttons to the centres of 3 of the flowers.

I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:-

Dreaming of Summer

Here is the final one for today and until after the weekend, phew!

This cute little card I have made for my SOTH, that is a Sister Of The Heart, from our Yahoo Group on Katys Corner. The idea is you make and send a card every month enclosing a little goodie. Its a lovely way to share ideas and stash and in fact the ribbon here is one I received from Karen a couple of months ago which I have coloured with copic V05. It coloured beautifully and the colour-match was spot on.

The image of course is Tilda and the sentiment by LOTV. DP is a sheet from Crafty Individuals 'The Seaside', and gems by Papermania.
Here is a close up of the shell which is one of my collection from seaside trips and the sand is the sort you get for decorating model railway scenery. I've used glossy accents to adhere these to the card.

Hope you like it and I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:-

Lighting the way to Christmas

Sorry, but here's another of those 'C' cards. I still have several more in the assembling stage so don't say you haven't been warned, lol.

I love this little Tilda with her candle. It reminds me of the nursery rhyme 'Wee Willie Winkie...'

I've coloured her with copics and unfortunately I can't remember where the DP was from as its a combination I had ready to make into a card for a while and didn't keep the details, duh!

I felt the card needed something else to the left and I wanted to add a greeting but somehow the ribbon just didn't look right. Then I thought why not cut a slot under Tilda's hand (no blood was spilt and no Tilda was harmed) and thread the ribbon to make it look as though Tilda is carrying it. A little bit of clever placing of sticky dots and a fabaroo flower from Crafty Emma's Store and voila!

I hope you like it and I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:-

Winter Wonderland - Light It Up

Gratitude

Okey dokey, here comes card number 2. This time a really quick and easy one using Brilliance inks. The shadow stamp is by Hero Arts as is the sentiment which was stamped in Stazon. The flowers and leaves are from one of the tapestry sets.

Off to School

Morning folks, are you ready for the start of 4, yes 4, postings from me this morning. I'm going MIA later for a weekend in the caravan so I'm filling you up with eye candy before I go, lol.

This card I've made for our little grandee who will be starting school in September. Now you may ask yourself (or you may not) why a pink greeting on a predominantly blue card. Well! She has this bee in her bonnet that if something is blue then its for a boy!!! You may be able to spot the pink pencil in her satchel.

The image is by LOTV, and the little fencing is a Polka Doodles stamp, repeated, from their Pond Neighbours range. I've only just bought a couple of their ranges thanks to my friend and purse emptier, Diane of Inky Meanderings, lol. The DP is Prima 'Sweet Fairy' available from Crafty Emma's Store.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:-

Take It Easy

Afternoon Peeps, a bit of sunshine today here in West Yorkshire although not brilliantly warm. However, I'm not complaining cos at least there's none of that wet stuff falling from the sky.

Onto today's card which I have made for my Nephew's 21st Birthday. The image and sentiment are by LOTV. As you can see I've used 'take it easy' and on the insert I've printed 'after all, its not every day you're 21'.

I've used my copics to colour and have managed to incorporate all the colours requested by the current Colour Create challenge, plus I've put the base layer of DP through my Swiss Dots embossing folder and included a corduroy covered brad to encompass the texture part of their challenge.

This week's CES challenge is to use DP from 2 different companies. The base layer is a Basic Grey sheet from 'hello luscious', bought from Crafty Emma's Store, and the other 2 DP are by Prima 'Madeleine' from Samuel Taylors.

I'm off to have a snooze under a tree too but before I go here are the challenge links, x

Here Is A Box....

a musical box, wound up and ready to play....

Who remembers those fabulous childrens' programmes that were on at lunchtime? Well this is a box but not a musical one, in fact all I'm showing you is the lid as that's the only part with a bit of bellie on it. The main item is what's inside.

Its our little grand-daughter's 4th birthday next week and she's a real girlie girl, loving anything resembling fairies or princesses. So taking inspiration from Kate Crane's pyramid card in the July Craft Stamper I made this little card for Casey. It would have been so much easier if I had stamped and coloured my card like Kate had done but I don't think my little grandee would have appreciated it.

As you can see the outside of the pyramid is decorated with Tildas all coloured with copics and the occasional bit of bling. The birthday text DP I've had in my stash for ages and I'm not sure where it came from but the green patterned DP is from a 12 x 12 Papermania stack 'Rose Garden'.

I also found it easier to tie the top of my pyramid with ribbon threaded through the tips.

That way when she opens it she could leave it partly looped to keep an upright shape (hope that makes sense to you all). Inside I've used more of the same papers and the two number 4s are chipboard shapes which I've coloured with adirondack dabber, adhered to some of the green base card and then adhered off centre back to back. That way she can see the 4 from either way she looks at it.

I'd like to enter it into the following challenges and I hope you like it, x

Pumpkin Pie

Morning Peeps, what's happened to the sun then? Who stole it? It was supposed to be sunny here in Bradford today so the washing machine has been on overtime and now I'm stuck with wet washing.....Hey! Ho!

Anyhows enough moaning, my card this morning is a freebie image from the clever people at Designed 2 Delight who offer a progressive challenge every week. If you wanna know what I'm on about check out the link below. I really love how this has turned out but I think its because of the warm colours. Of course no image is complete without my trusted copics. I've cut out the leaf border and adhered it under the main image and then added some buttons from my stash.

For the first time I've been able to use my Nesties Maple Leaf dies as they were just perfect for this project and I've nestled these under the main image.

The DP is Memory Box 'Fernbrae' from Crafty Emma's Store.

Another 'C' card but not as you know it....

Yep, that's right its 'C' for Cheers not Christmas, lol. That's for the benefit of the very talented Jo of Jozarty, tee! hee!
I've made this easel card for our neighbour who will be 70 next week and is partial to a pint or two. The stamp is by Funstamps and it is one of my favourites for blokey cards although I confess I haven't used it for ages. I've coloured it with good ole copics and then a fav thing of mine is to add white liquid applique to the 'head' and once its dry and then heated with the heat gun it resembles over-flowing froth.
In keeping with the theme I've used a flattened bottle top as the stop, coloured the rim with a copic, added a punched circle of co-ordinating paper and adhesive numbers.

I'd like to enter it into the following challenges and hope you like it, x

Yet Another 'C' Card

Good Morning Peeps, and how is your weekend going. I did a table-top sale with my son yesterday......nuff said!!! Anyway, getting home earlier than planned meant I was able to rattle off some cards, so here comes the first for today.

I coloured this sweet Elizabeth Bell image with copics and added some stickles for sparkle to the snowflakes. The DP is Kars 'X-mas Collection', and the Christmas definition stamp is a cube stamp by Judikins.

I hope you like it and I'll be back later with another card for you to see, x

Papertake Weekly

Evening Peeps. Well its wet and wild here in West Yorkshire. However, despite that we've had a lovely day out today with our 2 sons and little grand-daughter. The original plan was to go to Flamingoland however once we saw the forecast, on the advice of a friend, we went to Thornton Hall Country Farm near Skipton. We managed to do the outside stuff before the rain really set in including a bumpy ride in a cart thingy towed by a quad bike thingy around the farm. This also involved going through a field of cows with their calves and the daddy!!! Oh boy, wasn't he a big lad. My eldest son thought he was going to get into the cart beside him, lol.
On our return we were able to help with feeding the lambs and calves with their milk. Magic. Casey absolutely loved it and got really confident at approaching the animals including goats and giving them the feed pellets. She was also excellent in going to the wash station straight away and washing her hands.  I was able to feed 2 calves at the same time, that was after one of them had suckled on my hand for about 5 minutes. Quite a soothing warm feeling actually. So cute.

Anyway, enough of that back to the card. This is one I made a little while ago but hadn't got around to uploading. The papers are by K & Co 'Que Sera Sera', image is Sugar Nellie, and the sentiment is LOTV. Image of course is coloured with copics. Flowers are from Crafty Emma's Store and the leaves are made with my Martha Stewart punch.

Hope you like it and I'm entering it in this week's Papertake Weekly challenge which is 'grow your own'.

Christmas in August - Again!!!

Me again! Just got time to upload this challenge card before I have to scoot off to work. You know, that thing that pays for my addiction, lol.

This is a card I made yesterday at our Second Monday Stamping Group at Samuel Taylors in Brighouse, and thought, why not pop it in a challenge or two.

I still had my Christmas stamps in my bag from Saturday so I continued with my Christmas theme but this time in purple. I've used a variety of stamps including Simple Expressions and a Craft Stamper freebie. I've also used a Crafty Individuals image. Added a bit of bling and a dab of copic and voila!

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:-

Cupcake Mouse

Good Morning. The sun is shining here in West Yorkshire and I was up with the birdies so no doubt I'll be asleep by early afternoon, lol.

This cute little image is one of the freebies on offer over on the Designed 2 Delight site which has a progressive challenge each week. I've not managed to participate for a while but if you can it helps you build on your stash of digital images. Check out the link below to see what I'm talking about.

Anyhow, this little cutie is called Cupcake Mouse, isn't she sweet. I've used copics, no surprise there, to blend with the DP which is a double sided sheet from a Websters range 'Sweet Season'. I love these double-sided pages as you know you are gonna get a good blend, so I used my MS leaf punch with the reverse side of the paper to create the leaves.

I've turned the current Sketch Saturday sketch on its side and interpreted their 6 boxes by adding embellishments instead of papers. I hope that counts. Check out the link to see their sketch.

The cupcake brads are by Papermania, the rest is from my stash. The only thing I wasn't sure on was the tag.

Let me know what you think and the challenge links are below, x

Another Christmas Card

Good Afternoon Peeps, hope you are all well. I've had a lovely morning crafting at Samuel Taylor's in Brighouse, rounded off with a yummy lunch in the neighbouring cafe. We made a shutter card which I have almost completed, so watch this space for the piccie.

This card has been made using a Magnolia Tilda that I coloured yonks ago, no idea what colour copics I used, sorry. The DP is by Papermania 'Henbury Lane', and has a beautiful glittery finish. The ribbon, and Christmas tree ribbon brad are from my stash. I think the flowers and centres are from Meiflower.

Off to School

Back again, this time with a challenge card. I've made this for my little Grand-daughter's best friend. Both she and my grandee are starting school in September. She's a little blondie hence the hair colour, the next one I do will have brown hair like my grandee. I bought this cute image from LOTV last year and never got around to using it. As usual I've used my copics for colouring.

The DP is 'Up and Away' by Mindy Terasawa available at Crafty Emma's Store, perfect for this card.

The optional extra challenge at the Pixie Cottage is 'Time to Learn' ie a new technique but I hope they like my interpretation of the theme.

I hope you like it and I'm entering it into the following challenges :-

Slide Mount Tag Book

Evening Peeps. Hope you've all had a good weekend, although hasn't it been wet.

Yesterday I was able to pootle over to Padgate, nr Warrington to join my pals at the Victoria Stampers Group for a day of stamping, getting messy, having fun, and eating!!!

The lovely Carol Clements of Stamp Attack was taking the class and this is my finished slide mount tag book. I decided on a Christmas theme and stamped a background of stars and Merry Christmas in bleach, which I then over swiped with colorbox chalk pads. I then used a gold Lumiere and sponged through some sequin waste.

This is the book opened out to show the folded tags which were stapled along the bottom edge to form a pocket. I used Crafty Individuals Christmas images to pop inside the slide mounts and then sandwiched them together. You can see the full effect below. The slide mounts are tied to the tag pockets with some embroidery thread.

This is just my prototype so that I have something to work from when I have another go.

How Many Candles???

Evening Peeps, hope you're all having a good weekend. I've had a lovely day catching up with friends and crafting at our monthly Viccy Stampers get together.

I've got a few cards 'floating around' that I haven't been able to upload before now because they hadn't been received by their intended recipients. This is one of them. A 70th birthday card for a lovely lady at our Viccy Stampers Group. I call her 'Mum' cos her daughter and I share the same surname so we're sort of honorary sisters, lol. Anyhow, apart from the DP on the left which is from my stash, the others are Websters 'Sweet Season' from Crafty Emma's Store. The brads I think are Papermania. Lots of calorie free yummies here, lol.

As you can see, its a gate fold card with a bit of a difference. Tilda has been coloured with copics, as have the stamped cupcakes (Papermania) which I've then added some stickles to for sparkle.
The difference bit is the included bookmark which slots behind the ribbons.

As I'm uploading this to share I thought I would enter it into the challenges below. Hope you like it, x

Less Is More #26

OK Folks. First things first!!! THE Dog!!!

Yep, that cute little piccie at the top of my blog.....well, she's an absolute disgrace. I took the girls (dogs) walking in some fields earlier today. Now Etta, is a lady, and wouldn't dream of being a muck pup. But Joss....well she is just an imp (that's putting it mildly). All too late I spotted her rolling in something disgusting, a favourite hobby of hers. I called her back but the look on her face said it all.....I'm in big trouble now so I may as well make the punishment worth it....and proceeded to continue rolling in whatever disgusting, foul smelling muck she had found. So to home.....said dog was frogmarched through to the downstairs shower room, ordered into said shower and suitably chastised under a torrent of warm water, shampoo and verbal abuse from me. She was then banished to the garden to dry herself off. Not a happy doggy. But will she have learned her lesson....Will she heck, lol

So now onto my second card today. I've used an old Rubber Stampede image which I should use more often as I love it. I've coloured it with copics and was quite pleased with the result as I didn't use my usual cardstock. The sentiment is by Hero Arts, and I'm entering it into the current 'Less Is More' challenge which is 'Feeling Fruity'.

Hope you like it and here's the link, x

Daisy Chain

Hello Peeps. Hope you're all having a good day and the sun is shining for you. You can tell I need the distraction that crafting brings as I seem to be churning them out at the moment. I'm still spending time sitting with Mum but its almost as those its 'lights on, no-one home' syndrome. She doesn't speak, she doesn't appear to recognise me, she eats and drinks small amounts when she feels like it and when she's not asleep she just stares at me...
I didn't go over yesterday as I just couldn't face it. Its so hard sitting with your Mum knowing that the person is no longer there in real terms. Anyway enough doom and gloom, I'll tell you about this card and then tell you about today's mishap on my next posting. It involves THE dog!!!

So this cute little image is by Lili of the Valley as is the sentiment. Isn't it just the cutest. Didn't we all make daisy chains when it was a much simpler world and children played outside and amused themselves with nature. I've also followed the current LOTV sketch challenge, although I've turned it on it side. The image has been coloured with copics and the DP is Fernbrae by Memory Box available from Crafty Emma's Store.

The pearl brads are from Meiflower.

Hope you like it and it brings back fond memories and here are the challenge links I'm entering it in:-

Christmas in July

Evening Peeps. Did anyone else get that terrific downpour earlier this evening. Whoosh! It absolutely fell down here and my poor lad was cycling up the road (well pavement) and came in like a drowned rat...

Anyway, down to business. I've used a Molly Bloom image this time, coloured of course with my copics. The DP are Websters 'Waiting for Santa' and I thought Molly with her lantern was just right for showing Santa the way to the wee house. I've turned the Cute Card Thursday sketch on its head and threaded the ribbon behind the house so as not to spoil the fantastic detail on this DP. BTW, the ribbon is by MME, available at Crafty Emma's Store (as is the DP),  who has some Candy to giveaway. See my side bar....

I hope you like it and the challenge links are below, x
